Mike Snow (1946 - 2024)
Our former Trustee, Mike passed away peacefully at St Oswald's Hospice on 12th August at the age of 77.
Mike Snow was a much-loved member of our community, where he volunteered and served as a Trustee for many years.
From the early days, Mike was a great friend to the asylum seekers he supported. As a befriender, his warmth, kindness, and care brought comfort to people facing tough and often lonely times.
As a Trustee, Mike played a key role in guiding WERS. His thoughtful approach and dedication helped shape the direction of the charity over the years. Even after he stepped down due to ill health, Mike’s influence continued to be felt in the work we do. His passion for helping others and his commitment to our cause will never be forgotten.
Outside of WERS, Mike made a huge impact in the wider community. He was the first consultant in infectious diseases in the North East and worked with people affected by AIDS and HIV during the difficult years of the epidemic in the late 1980s and 1990s. His work saved lives and brought hope to many.
After retiring, Mike continued to give his time and support to WERS, sharing his thoughtful insights to help the charity grow. We are deeply grateful for everything he did for us.
Mike will be greatly missed by everyone at WERS.
We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and all those who were close to him. His legacy of care and dedication will always remain a part of our work.
We are deeply grateful for the generous donations collected at Mike's funeral in his memory.
